Hardy Hibiscus Head Over Heels® Desire™ PPAF (Hibiscus moscheutos hybrid)
Dinnerplate sized, scarlet-red flowers up to 8-10“ wide create a showstopping attraction in your summer garden. This fast grower with burgundy colored foliage is widely adaptable in zones 4-10 and makes a bold statement since it has the look of a tropical plant but with the benefit of being hardy for northern gardeners. Loved by hummingbirds and other pollinators, Head Over Heels® Desire™ PPAF is a compact plant that reaches 3-4’ tall by 4’ wide so it fits nicely in a full sun location in your landscape. Easy to grow, apply a complete fertilizer in late spring and again in mid-summer to maximize the bloom potential. Cut back after the first frost of winter.
Special note: Hardy Hibiscus die back to the ground every fall and the plant doesn’t re-emerge until late spring, usually by the end of May or early June.
